Ashford Kent - Entertainment

In town, not a lot, but plenty within easy reach

Ashford
I'm afraid to say that Ashford is not a mecca of light entertainment!
There is however, a 12 screen Cineworld Complex on the Eureka Estate right next to Junction 9 of the M20.
In the same Park are Burger King and Frankie and Benny's, so an evening can be made of it.
There are special prices at special times for special people etc.
You can visit the Cineworld Ashford site here.

In Summer, the Council sponsor the 'Create' Music Festival in Victoria Park. This is a weekend event (no camping), which gives local Bands and those 'on the brink' to perform to a large outdoor audience.

AMF have a Ten Pin Bowling Alley on Ashford Town Centre Ring Road. You need to book well in advance though - it's very popular.

For more entertainment venues you have to travel a bit.
Canterbury has the Marlowe Theatre which mainly presents Drama and One Night Comedian Shows etc.

Folkestone has The Leas Cliff Hall . This is a spot on venue being situated right on top of the Cliff's and overlooking the Channel.
They tend to have a lot of Tribute Bands and Summer One Nighter Shows. However, a few bigger names appear there, ie Manfred Mann and Jethro Tull (well, for me they're 'bigger' !!)

Every Summer, the Electric Gardens Festival is held near Faversham. This attracts some 12,000 young people to watch some good live Bands.

Further away, but only a 50 minute car ride, is Hastings. Hastings is a buzz of musical entertainment with loads of Pubs having Live Bands of all genre.
The White Rock Pavilion is the Town's Centre and because of it being a more popular seaside resort, attracts some big names during the Summer.

For really top names, Leeds Castle hosts two ot three outdoor concerts every year. Recent years have seen Paverotti and Elton John plus numurous top Orchestral Symphonic Orchestra's.
They also host many Jousting Tournaments and Hot Air Balloon rides.
Leeds Castle is probably the best family day out in Kent.

Other than that, London Theatreland is only 70 minutes by train and I think that has enough entertainment of all descriptions for any taste in drama, music or other!

Ashford in Kent

My son Leo with two of his mates at the Electric Garden Festival 2007. The Tent came back, shame about the Poles !

With prevailing westerly winds, Balloon's have a habit of landing in the field behind our House!

The old Ashford Cinema, sadly pulled down to make way for the International Railway Station
Folkestone Leas Cliff Hall. Get there early and sit outside for the Channel Views (and see France!). Folkestone also have an annual Air Show.
