Changes continue - the World watches America

The news this year was quite centred on America; Both the Civil Rights Movement led by Martin Luther-King and the growing opposition to the war in Vietnam were gaining momentum.

The American Charts were still being dominated by British Pop Music, the Rolling Stones achieved their first Number One there with 'Satisfaction', closely followed with 'Get off of my Cloud'. The Byrds and other more anti-establishment US Bands were coming to the fore more.
