Frugal, thrifty and alternative uses for
HAIR SHAMPOO
Using products you have around the home for other jobs
1. Removing Sticky Plasters
Ouch is the usual word for when we pull a plaster off a healing wound. To stop this, smear some shampoo around and on the plaster. The shampoo will seep through and underneath thus loosening it enough to pull off easily.
2. Washing House Plants
Use some shapoo in some water, get a dampened cloth and run it over the leaves of your Houseplants. It will get the dust off and leave a nice shine.
3. Final clean of Paint Brushes
After cleaning your brushes in the recommended manner and in the case of gloss paint, you have that awful lingering smell of White Spirit, give them a final clean in some shampoo. This will leave them not only clean, but soft as well.
4. Shower Gel
Shower Gels along with many other soaps are made up of approximately the same ingredients, so Shapoo can be equally as good as a Shower Gel, the only thing is that it could work out slightly more expensive, but in an emergency...etc.
5. Cleaning Baths and Sinks
Shampoo is slightly milder than Washing up Liquid and other cleaners but is just as effective in everyday normal use, so use it to clear those bath rings and other smears.
6. Leatherware
To restore colour and feed your Leather Shoes, Bags etc. rub Shampoo into the worn areas in a circular fashion. This will soften it and restore the general colours.
7. Replace Soap Dispenser Liquid
Cost effectively, shampoo is much cheaper than buying a new Hand Wash Dispenser beside the Sink or wherever. Refilling with shampoo will give you just as good alternative at a fraction of the cost.
8. Repairing stuck Zip
Place some shapoo on a Cotton bud and smear around the zip area which has stuck. After a while the zip should loosen and all will be well.
9. Bubble Bath
There is a belief that separate products do separate jobs, but shampoo will act as a good substitute for Bubble Bath and give just the same effect.
10. Shaving Cream
As above, it is a good substitute for Shaving Cream, adding a bit of Hair Conditioner as well will be gentler to the skin.
