Yes, for the second time in 6 weeks, my never forgetful son lost the key to his Bicycle Lock.
Not the last lock which I had to saw off in Ashford High Street, but the new ‘better model’ which I told him to get.

So whilst waiting for my car to be looked at I thought it a good opportunity to go down town again with hacksaw and clippers.
This time he’d left it in the Pedestrian walkway leading to the main Shopping Arcade, just outside the Post Office.

Buying a better model was not such a good idea.

In fact it is was so hard I had to pop down Woolworths and buy a better snipper.
All in all I must have been 20 minutes sawing it, pulling it, swearing at it, but at last I was nearly there.

“Ah” I thought as I heard a Police Car siren speeding up the road behind the Square, “Someone’s shop lifting somewhere”.
But no, someone had reported (in their words) a dodgy looking bloke trying to pinch a bicycle.

All in all, they there pretty good about it. In fact they found the whole thing very entertaining, as did the 600 odd people walking past thinking ‘Wonder what that chaps been up to”.
Well, I wasn’t exactly dressed for town as it were!!

I also pointed out to them that, if they were bicycle thieves, would they steal that one. They said “No, we’d have that one on the end which isn’t locked”!

A record down the Station at last? No, but at least someone this time had the decent citizenship values to report something!
Luckily Leo’s Mum works at the Police Station and they gave her a quick call. Good thing she hasn’t the same sense of humour as I have. If it were me, I’d have said I’ve never seen him before in my life!

A pretty bad week on the old wheels front; Car overheating, Moped Throttle Cable breaking, one bike now home, second bike pedal’s come off and the third ‘spare’ bike is now down to a frame and a couple of cables.

I’d buy a Skateboard and attach the Strimmer engine to it, but that’s packed up as well!
