Another half day Gardening Project from Down the Lane

Besides two Greenhouses and the Chicken House, I have nowhere to have that relaxing afternoon sit down with the Newspaper and a cup of Coffee.
So this morning, as it wasn’t raining and I hadn’t got to go out until 2pm, I thought I’d convert one of my Sheds to a purpose built Summerhouse.

For your assistance and information, the tools required are…

Sledgehammer
Pick Axe
Crowbar
Screwdriver (optional)
Hammer (essential)
Screws, Nails
Bits of Wood
Electric Drill (Not for use, but neighbours are impressed)

If like me, your existing Shed has corrugated iron all round it, make sure your cat is suitably put inside as the old rusted in tacks, when prised with the Crowbar, tend to extract at approx 230mph. Alternatively, sit the cat on the window ledge to avoid window being broken.

The secret to a good Summerhouse is vision and air-flow. This makes it a lot easier as you don’t have to bother much with walls, doors and other things like that.
However, because of this, the building must be secure from winds which may exceed 5mph. I found leaving the Climbing Plant leaning against one wall did this for me and also saved the extra work of pulling another wall down.

On the Continent, this kind of Summerhouse is often called a Garden Kitchen. Well, fear not, a single ring Camping Stove for just £12.99 will supply you with all your cuisine needs and water can be plumbed in by leaving a bucket under the part of the roof which leaks the most.

From start to finish, it did take me slightly longer than expected, but starting at 10.30, I still managed to have a shower and get out the house by 3pm.

March and April are very busy times in the Garden so I shall be posting more interesting and quick projects for you as and when I can.
Already planned are; Raised Flower Beds (Old Wheelbarrow), Extending your Greenhouse with Cling Film and useful tips on how to rid your garden of slugs with a Catapault.

Before that, don’t forget to read ‘Servicing your Lawnmower’ , an easy to follow guide written last August.
