One known method is to "blow" an egg and put mustard inside inplace. A few of these and it usually stops the egg eater.

Thank you all... And yes the Grass has all gone (not that there was much to start with, as it was raining all the time I was assembling it, so it turned int a mudbath, but a sprinkling of shavings and sun and it's dry again). Shame about the weather now though. I can see them getting dirty again chi...
