LONE CHICKEN ADVICE NEEDED

Hello again from a visitor from years ago when I had ex-batts. I have been helping a local farmer over recent weeks feeding chickens, geese and ducks. He’s having a bypass op as I type. Anyway I was feeding the main group of chickens who are all locked up due to bird flu and noticed that one had few...

TRAILING TOMATOES

I was given a three tier hanging basket stand for my birthday and thought it would be perfect for growing tumbling tomatoes in the top two and salad leaves and pea shoots in the bottom one. I planted the seeds a few week ago and they’ve turned into nice plants but as yet there is no sign of them sta...

Re: Cat car travelling advice please

I give my cat Zylkene from the vet's, makes her so laid back. Google it and read the reviews for other peoples experiences with it. What I like is the fact that is is a natural product and no dr-ugs involved:-D

HELP - DESPERATE FOR HOUSE TRAINING ADVICE

I am desperate for some help with my 20 week old working cocker, Molly. The problem is that she will only relieve herself in the house. Molly is my fourth dog and I have never encountered this before. When I collected Molly at 12 weeks the breeder had not started any house training with her. I tried...

Re: Wood burner

I have just bought. Morso Squirrel 1430 for £370 on Ebay, paid £100 to have it fitted. I was lucky the chimney was already lined etc so minimum outlay. I love the stove, it is extremely controllable and keeps our open plan living room and bedrooms at a comfortable temperature. It also makes an attra...

Re: Money saving tips for the kitchen, please?

Whenever we have a chicken I freeze the carcass. When I have a few i put them all in a large pan with some carrot and onion etc and make a batch of stock which I then freeze for soups and gravy. For an excellent kitchen/bathroom cleaner I buy a bottle of (rhymes with dash) multi purpose lemon cleane...

Re: Remoska - worth having or not?

I have had a ramoska for about 3 years now and wouldn't be without it. I have cooked most things in it and not been disappointed. I bought the largest one which was quite an investment but I'm sure I have recouped the cost in not having to put the main oven on. It roasts a whole chicken beautifully,...

Re: Frugal Sewing

My button tin is a treasure chest of memories of my daughters childhood as I used to knit and sew most of her clothes and cut the buttons of when she out grew them In the days when L Smashley used to sell dress fabric I could buy a remnant for coppers and make a pinafore dress that they would sell f...

Re: HELP PLEASE CIRCULAR KNITTING

Thank you so much I will have a look when they have switched the TV off and I can concentrate!! It makes more sense now that you have explained that the needles are flexible. When I said I am reasonably competent i didnt mean that I am good enough to convert knitting patterns, way too hard for my si...

Re: HELP PLEASE CIRCULAR KNITTING

Thanks LittleBrownFrog. Many years ago I knitted something using 4 double ended ended needles, the knitting being divided equally between 3 of the needles and the 4th used to knit them with. Sorry I don't have a link to the pattern but I could try and scan it? I can't for the life of me see how it i...

HELP PLEASE CIRCULAR KNITTING

I am a reasonably competent two needle knitter but have never knitted 'in the round' before. I have found a gorgeous pattern for hand warmers will a frill round the wrist in worsted wool. My problem is that the pattern is American and they are knitted with circular needles but I can't even understan...
