Re: I need to rehome my girls
I thought I'd update about my girls who are now with Ace and say a heartfelt thank you to Ace for taking them. They have been gone a few weeks now and have been a big miss in my life. However I am so pleased they have gone to Ace who is so caring about her hens who are so special to her. Thank you t...

Re: I need to rehome my girls
Good news for my girls, Ace is taking them and her friend is going to have the two Silkies. I am so pleased Ace responded as I know how she cares for her girls. We will let you know when they move to their new home. Thanks again Ace it's a weight off my mind, I will be sad to see them go but very ha...

I need to rehome my girls
Hi, I'm moving home and sadly I can't take the hens with me; I need a good home for them. I have two hybrids (a Rhode rock and an Amber) 2 black Silkies; 2 Pekins(1 lavender and one millefluer). All of the hens have laid all summer and the hybrids are still laying every day. I'm currently getting ab...

Re: My ex Bat Girls.....Pictures..
Glad you got your new girls, they all look very happy together. I think most chicken keepers will agree you never stop tweaking their home....usually making it bigger, taller etc! I don't have any ex bats just now but they do have big personality's and it is surprising how trusting they are. Look fo...

Aww Spreckly what a hard decision. I'm sure you will do what's best for Ruby. You're right chicken keeping is harder in the winter, I'm dreading it brrrrrr!

Re: What type of other Hen to mix with my ex bats ?
Hi CD, if you are planning to get more hens, personally I'd advise you do it sooner rather than later before they settle into a well established group, introductions are likely to be smoother if all hens aren't too familiar with one another yet. I'd be prepared to introduce the new girls gradually b...

Re: Fabulous Fashionistas
It was interesting although I liked some of them much more than others! Also the programme as a whole I really enjoyed, but there were bits/things said that really irritated me. Oooh, seems I am turning into Victor Meldrew Tell us which bits irritated you Helen, I lime to hear other people's perspe...

I might ask my son to oblige when he comes around (with the pee). I have a male dog but maybe the fox knows he's only a 5lb yorkie
get your dog to stand on a chair & pee high up on the fence, fox will think he's a huge dog then!

Re: Looking for Mr.Fox
Thanks for that Richard...I think
Seriously though a fox has been snooping around my girls (I've posted about it in chicken keeping) and he made a determined effort to dig his way in last night, there is always a chance they are there waiting for us to take our eye off the ball!

Re: Visit From Foxy
How scary for you! Its very interesting to hear exactly how it tried to get in, its so helpful to us all when we try & fortify our runs! This proves how vital the anti dig part is, I shall check mine tomorrow & make sure its fastened down properly & there's no gaps. I've often wondered ...
