Red Kites

Living in Warwickshire, Red Kites are becoming more common (apparently there are 3 or 4 prs breeding in the County) & we do see them over the village fairly regularly but they are always a delight to see. I saw on the internet that there was a winter roost the other side of town so Friday aftern...

Re: LL's Gardening Diary

Hi LL. Just worth mentioning with regard to your garlic growing, we bought 'proper' seed garlic when we first got our allotment then every year we just save some bulbs to re-plant next year, we read somewhere that the garlic then gets used to your type of soil & grows better. We certainly have a...

Re: Wildlifemad's Frugal February!

Not sure if this counts but Tesco sent me a £5 voucher to say thank you for shopping with them & sorry the service wasn't great at times in the run up to Xmas! Not sure if every Clubcard member got one or just certain areas of the country but hey ho it saved me £5 on my shopping!!

Re: Wildlifemad's Frugal February!

Thanks Mo. It annoys me as well that most of the time you get nothing for being loyal to a company but out of the three deals I've done only one of them is a move to another company so thankfully the other two suppliers realised you need to keep the customers you have! I always say, with insurance y...

Wildlifemad's Frugal February!

I've had a good savings bash so far. 1) Car insurance (2 cars) is due on 11th & reading all the horror stories of how much its gone up again I was dreading the renewal coming. It arrived & actually hadn't gone up too much & some of that was down to them adding breakdown which was free la...

Re: BBC Winterwatch

We watched the 1st episode last night as we record them (9pm bit late when you are up just after 4am!!) anyway, can't believe they have shown our favourite spot on Islay to watch the otters!! Not only that but the 1st one filmed was the male with a kink in his tail that is framed on our wall!! When ...

Karen, as Mo said you can still count them & I think you can even log if you don't see any because that is still useful info for them.

Johnny Kingdom

Does anyone remember Johnny? We went to Malvern theatre on Wednesday evening to see him give a talk. We always enjoyed his wildlife programmes & what you see is what you get with him! It was a lovely evening, thoroughly enjoyed by myself, hubby & my friend. Someone asked him if there are any...

Re: Wildlifemad's Allotment Diary

Ok, so the first entry of 2018!! We haven't got on the plot yet this winter as its very wet! Most of the beds were covered so hopefully we won't have too much work. Anyway, we have got our seed potatoes for this year so they are now sat in egg trays in the greenhouse. The varieties we have gone for ...

Re: white vinegar

I just buy White distilled vinegar from Aldi or Tesco, about 40p for 500ml. I have read before that its not a strong as White vinegar but still cleans well. Does anybody else know if there is much difference? As always if you google it, there are many different opinions!
