Re: Blind Giblet & friends at Chickenopolous
Chickenopolous is facing the biggest Hooley (storm Eunice) since we built it. The roof is holding so far, but there's so much banging & crashing of the panels & tarps I have allowed Bill & the girls out into the garden - against the rules - so they can find sheltered spots in the shrubs. Bill has be...

Re: New surface for a peeling leather chair, ideas welcome
Its probably about 8 or 10 years old Mo. I like the look of the fabrics on that site FR, I tried to order a sample but cant for some reason. I wouldnt be able to take the cover off my chair, but I could peel the damaged bit off & maybe fix something over that. I'll keep thinking.

Re: New surface for a peeling leather chair, ideas welcome
I have thrown a red sheet over it Mo, to hide it, but whenever someone sits there for a while it slips off. I sometimes peg it on, but I'm trying to think of something more permanent. Its such a comfy chair. Yes a sort of drawstring bag over the stool might work (if thats what you meant) & maybe one...

New surface for a peeling leather chair, ideas welcome
Some years ago when dh had an operation we bought this super comfy, adjustable leather chair & footstool for his recovery. It lived in the conservatory for years until it started to peel so badly its gone into another room & been covered with a sheet to hide the mess. Despite being in constant use f...

Re: LONE CHICKEN ADVICE NEEDED
I've introduced lone chickens into my flock several times. It took a bit of effort but always worked. Perhaps you could get her a friend, another lone hen? I do know people that have kept a single hen as a pet & they seemed happy but got alot of human company & fuss.

Re: Lockdown 2021
I wonder if there are more cases of avian flu now, or if defra are stricter about it now? I hate confining my chooks to their run, even when I make them an extension out of netting there's not much sun in that part of the garden over winter. They like to warm up in the sun by the house.

Re: Blind Giblet & friends at Chickenopolous
Bill has started terrorizing the new girls when I let him out in the mornings. He's always done this, but Bonny & Poppy learned to stay in bed until he calmed down. Poor Sweetpea nearly flew over the hedge into the neighbours garden to escape him. So I've decided to keep Bill confined every morning ...

Re: Covid - do we just need to get back to normal?
Most places seem pretty well back to normal to me. We can go to crowded concerts, restaurants, parties. There's very few settings where masks are compulsory, but I think its still too soon not to be taking some precautions. In fact I think England it far too lax & should tighten up the rules over th...

Re: Blind Giblet & friends at Chickenopolous
3 newly free chookies are doing very well. We've had no fighting, just a bit of wing pulling by Bonny - which I expected & am quite pleased about (Queen Bonny reigns!) Sweetpea is very shy, stays mostly in or near the runs & wont let me near her. Nugget (the bald one) on the other hand is sooo frien...

Re: Blind Giblet & friends at Chickenopolous
Yesterday I picked up 3 ex farm hens from FSFH. I wasnt going to get any more but Bill looked so sad. Nugget, Chips & Sweetpea (though names may be tweeked once personalities show through) This morning I collected 2 eggs! the first eggs we've had from our chooks in years. They're living in Giblet's ...

looking for Mature Hens for Bill
I've decided to look for a couple of new hens for Bill. He seems so sad with only old Bonny, who spends half her day in bed. I'd love to take on a couple of hens that someone is having to give up & wants them to have a good life free ranging & being cared for as family pets. I'm willing to travel wi...
