Re: How does your garden grow?
Today the friend in the village\ who has taken on Ted`s veggie patch for herself, came round with cardboard, and with the boxes I had, we have almost covered the veggie plot. We recovered with a glass of fresh orange (carton), and a long chat.

Re: How does your garden grow?
I envy you your apples, Mo. None of my trees fruited, plenty of blossom though and there has been nothing on my pear tree, I sowed cornflower seeds earlier in the year. They have grown sparsely in the tub, which I put in the greenhouse last week.. Today I discovered four beautiful blue flowers on th...

Re: How does your garden grow?
My dwarf French beans have yielded four or five three to four inch beans. I plan to grow more in pots next year.

Re: How does your garden grow?
A friend from the village took Ted`s veggie plot on a few weeks` since, for her own use. She planted courgettes and onion sets, which have done nothing at all, but the potatoes she put in have come up. Most disappointing after all her hard work, but our neighbours on one side with the overgrown gard...

Re: My little dog Angel
Thanks, Mo. Angel is improving, albeit it slowly. I contacted the emergency vet on Saturday, who advised a level desertspoonful of boiled rice four times a day instead of the Purina from the vet nurse on Friday. This has settled Angel`s tummy. This morning I again phoned the emergency vet to ask how...

Re: My little dog Angel
Yes Mo, they certainly are! Angel now has an upset tummy. The vets were closed on Friday, but the nurse let me have some medication, two tins of dogfood for sensitive tums, and a powder to use once a day, also a paste, which I already had. I have to feed the tinned food in small amounts a few times ...

Thanks LL. The watering can has stood unused for at least five years.

Watering cans and weed killer
I have a watering can in the garage which was last used with weed killer in it over five years since. I would like to use it for watering the plants, do you think it will now be safe to use?

Re: How does your garden grow?
My weeds are growing well, despite having been given two applications of white vinegar! Most annoying. I shall resort to pulling them up in places, and using weed killer.
Yesterday I picked four tomatoes, which were delicious, but very small. There are more to ripen, some very green still.

Re: How does your garden grow?
My greenhouse tomatoes, Gardener`s Delight are very small, and only just beginning to ripen. I picked a more advanced one, and ate it. It was disappointingly sour. Next year I shall go back to Moneymaker. The dwarf runner beans are growing slowly, in a plant pot, and I am hoping they yield some frui...

Re: My little dog Angel
Just realised that I never said the outcome of Angels lump. She had it removed under anaesthetic, and at the same time a loose tooth was removed, plus her teeth cleaned. It was a large bill, as the insurance would not cover it. On the way home, I was caught in a speed trap. Yesterday. I discovered a...

Re: How does your garden grow?
Thank you for the courgette information, Mo. We have had rain almost all the pas seven days. The lady from the Garden Club came yesterday and planted around one hundred onion plants. So my veg plot is looking quit good. I went out after breakfast and did a fair bit of tidying in the old rasp patch. ...

Re: How does your garden grow?
I was talking to someone in the village yesterday about the courgettes which someone from the garden club has planted in Ted's old veg patch. I told her that I had been watering them when there was no rain, and she said that she had been told that they don't need much water, or the flowers may rot. ...

Re: How does your garden grow?
My hanging baskets are looking as if they are starting to go over. Photos have been taken of them, they have given me such joy. I sewed my third attempt of dwarf runner beans, and they are growing well. Tomatoes still flowering, but no fruit yet. A clematis Jackmanii whic I cut back heavily last yea...
