Thanks Stace, I did think it was OK as they are all so young, (only about 22/23 weeks) and just getting the hang of laying, but it is good to get confirmaiton from someone else. I love this forum... it is so useful. I spend almost as much time looking at it as my chooks. Poor Colin, he is so neglect...

Had a soft shell egg yesterday and today had a perfect yolk but no sign of any shell. Our chooks are all Point-of-Lay and one only started laying on Tuesday. (Had one good egg Tues and another good one on Thurs) Is this OK?? - I hope this is just 'teething problems' and me just worrying over nothing...

We have them in a large enclosed run and they all do their chicken things all day, but boy does the mood change when we go anywhere near the run Loads of...

I have Verm-X too and have just popped a dose of the pellets in their food bowl for the first time. Will it matter if I follow the packet instructions and add to their food for the next two days, even if there might be some left in the bowl still? Am I in danger of giving them an overdose ??

Congrats on your first egg. I have posted on the forum too today as we had our first one this afternoon. Quite small but nonetheless very exciting!! We have 4 hens but don't know which one laid. probably Hetty or Aggy as they both have quite red combs and faces now and Aggy goes into a low crouch wh...

Hi all, Colin found our first egg this afternoon on the floor of the coop. They had all been in there scratching around earlier on and making a right mess of all the lovely clean woodshavings I put in this morning. They even had a go at the nest boxes, throwing all the woodshavings out. Anyway, we h...

They are named after my two Nan's, I just couldn't resist it. Both my Nan's are dead now, so I thought it was a fitting tribute to them!!
Dorothy Agnes and Muriel (Maud) Hetty......both lived into their 90's and I am sure they would have approved..

Thank you for your responses, and maybe a really stupid question, but how do I post a photo?
Do I need to reduce the size of the file?
If you could let me know, I already have loads of fab pics for you.... [/img]

Hello all
Hi, I have just registered with the forum but have been using it for information for a few weeks. Many thanks for all the valuable postings. We have 4 Point-of-Lay's hens which we have had for 3 weeks but no eggs yet! They are in a fabulous enclosure (built by the better half) and seem very settled,...
