Re: Hawfinches

We saw another 5 Hawfinch last Saturday, 15 mins from home when we were on our way home from visiting Mum in law. I'm just hoping (!!!!!) they decide to visit our garden!

Re: Feeding the hungry Birds!

Don't forget our little feathered friends in this cold weather folks! Especially as there will be little or no "wild" food left for them. Also don't forget fresh water for them. I have them all arguing outside at the moment, I just wish they wouldn't waste their energy!!

Re: hedgy is back!

Hi Kitla. I'd be tempted to put some dry bedding around in case he/she needs to freshen up their home! Fingers crossed he/she goes back to sleep in the next couple of nights judging by what is supposed to be coming next week. Just like you I am topped up with all the bird food, just need some more w...

Re: Wildlifemad's Frugal February!

Went into Aldi first thing for shopping, didn't need much but always have a look for bargains! They had Valentines socks reduced from £1.99 to 79p for 2 pairs so I bought a couple of packs of ladies either for me or presents. When they went through the checkout, they went through at 19p so I went &a...

Re: Long Tailed Tits roosting

Saw that when it was on. I love Long tailed tits, I always think they look like teddy bears!! We are lucky to have them in the garden not daily but quite often. If you get the chance to watch them with binoculars when they are feeding they are very interesting. In our garden they take a sunflower he...

Re: Hawfinches

Well we were lucky enough to have someone tell us there were a couple in the churchyard in the village last Friday, so off we walked when Hubby got home & we saw 1 which was very flighty but still nice to see on our own patch!

Re: Red Kites

It was funny, while we were stood watching them several people stopped & asked what we were looking at. A couple originally from Australia & have travelled extensively chatted for ages & were amazed to see them. Then we had locals in their big cars asking us & then just saying "...

Re: When is ??????

I think some people do struggle for money & sometimes through no fault of their own i.e. redundancy but it is then up to that person to 'cut their cloth accordingly'. When my husband & I were first together, he was made redundant from a job earning £30k+ & a company Mercedes (this was ba...

Re: Mo's meanness

Love your thinking Mo & some great points made! We are lucky we don't HAVE to scrimp but we class ourselves as living a very simple life. We overpaid on our mortgage & paid it off five & half yrs early. When we bought a new car just over 2 yrs ago we bought a pre-registered car thus savi...

Re: Wildlifemad's Frugal February!

Hi Ilona. There was no minimum spend on the voucher which was even better as I struggle to use the min spend ones as there are only 2 of us & I don't buy much from Tesco. Be interesting if you get one as well or if it was certain areas where the stores struggled & had a lot of complaints.
