green fly

Post by amber66 »

Hello.
I would like some advice please.
I finally treated my self to a green house last year and this year for the first time have been growing veg in there.
Yesterday i noticed that my Aubergine plant had lots of green fly on the leaves. How should i treat the plant to get rid of them?
Many thanks.
Amber.

Easy - dilute washing up liquid (or horticultural soap) is usually effective but do a test spray on a small area just to make sure your plants will not get damaged (the soap basically removes the oily surface on the aphid body and they collapse) You could spray, perhaps leave for an hour and then spray with fresh water to remove the soap if concerned.

Yes as LL says, and you'll probably have to keep spraying as they can be persistant. Quite safe for the vegetables as well)t'

just remember that the (very) dilute washing up liquid kills the aphids but doesn't prevent future swarms so you'll have to check regularly)t'
