MRI scan

Post by albertajune »

I had an MRI scan this morning on my back which is so painful. I never realised that the scanner was so noisy with really loud thumps and rumbles. I was asked if I would like ear phones on to soften the noise. I said 'no thanks as I might not like the music but have to listen anyway' With a smile the young man jammed them on and said I would need them. Whatever the music was, I couldn't hear it above the pneumatic drill noise but did manage to stay calm.
I have to wait for an appointment from the consultant to see what if anything the scan shows and if anything can be done. Besides my back being painful, my toes are going numb and my spine clicks when I move around, so I imagine that I have nerve problems. As long as I can plod on, I can put up with it but time will tell.)t'
I am now a widow and live with my memories.

Yes, MRIs are noisy, and music does help! Sorry to hear your back is playing up and lets hope there is something they can do to help you.{hug}

I only ever had one 'conventional' one. The others have been a donut type.
I had to take dr-ugs to go in there, as I am claustrophobic. Hated it and came out panic struck ! So you did really well.
Hopefully they will find the problem and get it sorted out for you

I didn't think I was claustrophobic until I had an MRI in November ...oh heck!!!...I had my eyes shut when I went in and opened them once I was inside the thingyike* I closed them and kept them closed until I got out half an hour later....it's all the padding and everything they put around you to keep you still....and then when I got out I couldn't walk because my legs were tingling ...the nurse wanted me to get off the bed (I think they were running late)... when I explained to her it was either give me a few minutes to get my legs sorted or pick me up when I ended up on the floor...she backed off then{rofwl}
