It is a shame when you learn to late that a grandparent had a skill that you didn't know about or value while they were alive. My husband's grandfather kept a music shop and playing a violin. Probably would have taught Jim but his parents thought it was a waste of time. Jim later taught himself to play the viola and wishes he could have learned as a child. And when we started going to folk festivals and tried to learn clog dancing they said ' oh, your grandad used to do that' - Jim had never known.
