Just watched David Lean's "This Happy Breed". It was on one of the freeview channels this afternoon, and even though I must have seen it at least twice before, I really, really enjoyed it. Starring Celia Johnson, Robert Newton, Stanley Holloway and John Mills. Beautifully acted, every word clear, and the sets took me back to my childhood.
The film commenced at the end of WW1, and moved through the years to the 1940's - my childhood. I am not that old!
This Happy Breed - old film
Re: This Happy Breed - old film
Love a good old film - hoe about 'Kind Hearts and Coronets'? Love that one. Alex Guinness plays about 8 or nine characters. Without giving the plot away he nearly gets away with it!
Also, anything with Dame Margaret Rutherford in is always worth a watch.
