Post by Richard »

Thought it may be interesting to do this and keep it going maybe, hopefully show the variations etc.
If not cheapest, average.
I bought some in Canterbury today for 134.4p

Thats nit too bad.
I buy desiel, around poole its 139.9-141 at the mo. The more rural the higher the cost it would seem.
In dorchester around its always higher, prob around 143 at the mo.
I dive very frugally as I comute 40 miles a day.
My mpg computer in my 2.0 tdi passat often displays 65 mpg if I keep it below 2000rpm and coast downhill in neutral!

At home in our bit of sussex the prices go up and down like a fishermans float ranging from £134.99 to £139.99 for unleaded. Up in Cotswolds, well this bit of it I am at a t present we have seen it £132.99, which is quite suprising as it is usually higher here. No supermarkets locally here with petrol stations so have to rely on the ordinary garage.

We've always noticed it seems to go up when the kids start and finish their holidays. Or it goes right up and then the store seems to do a 5p voucher off if you spend so much in their store.

petrol has been hovering round the £1.32p - £1.39p price depending where for much of summer - the supermarket I go to is a little way off and happens to also have the cheapest price so I fill up after the shop but I wouldn't make a special trip just for petrol. I think it was £1.33p (+ something) per litre on Saturday

I've noticed the school holiday price thing as well Maggie, thought it was just the area I was in and nothing to do with that.
Interesting.

Our local paper is having a bit of a campaign about petrol and diesel prices at the mo. We have 3 filling stations in Bridlington and the prices are always all the same. Where my daughter lives (Hull) and in my son's area (14 miles from Sheffield) prices are always about 4p per litre cheaper.
I'm shopping at Te$co at present because a £50 spend gets 5p per litre reduction. Mind you, I have cupboards full of stuff that I won't use until 2014 because £50 is a lot for me to spend.
Bea; 19 hens (most of whom I intended to get); 6 bantams (which I never intended to have); old Benji dog and young Toby dog (who I definitely wanted). Three years into country living and loving it.

Most places round here are about £1.36 for unleaded and £1.41 for diesel but two supermarkets nearby are having a ding dong and they have unleaded at £1.29 and diesel at £1.36 (not including any extra off for spending loads in store).

Filled up with desiel yesterday and was pleasantly surprised to see it was £1.37.9.
I wondered as I made my way to pay if id put unleaded in by mistake!
It will probably bounce back to its normal above £1.40 price before I next need a refill!
It was nice while it lasted though!
Still getting 60 mpg on the 19 mile drive to work by refusing to go above 60 and coasting down hills!

Unleaded petrol is £1.31 a litre at mo round here. Last week it was £1.35)t'
Son of Morris seem to be cheapest normally, but think the two local garages to me in a bit of a price battle.
