I've just started putting gernaiums outside to harden off during the day and almost immediately the larger leaves have started to go a dark maroony colour.
Is this just adjusting to the wind?
Gugle says that over or under watering can cause it (thanks) but I wonder do they need feeding or something?

it's possible though I'm only guessing, that as the wind can have a drying effect, that it is the "underwatering" as suggested. If they have been indoors in a stable environment, they may be affected to the hardening off (swing in temperature and air movement difference)

Thanks LL.
If this is the problem, will they just sort themselves out iyo?
I hadn't thought about the drying effect. I'll try upping the water. I suppose it can't hurt to feed them occasionally as well as they've been flowering and in the same pots for a while.
Re: Geranium leaves going dark
My geraniums are still in the greenhouse, apart from three which have been outside all winter in a fairly sheltered spot. Afraid I can't help you with your query, but I hope your plants survive.

I had almost the same problem and found info that it could be some fungal infection.
