Got some new ladies

Post by tonyd »

On Friday I picked upsome ex-batts from my sons college. One of his teachers picked up 15 the week before from Cambridge.
I got them home and put them in the house and my one remaining one from last year came charging in to see whats going on.
She pushed the new ones out of the way a few times and went out again, I have had no pecking or fights sofar and the only problem I have had was on Friday when she didnt want the new ones to eat and kept pushing them out the way again.
Now its Sunday and they are all getting on fine so much so that lady (the original one) and the scraggiest new one walk round all day together doing whatever chickens do and talk about.
I think I have been lucky with the introduction of new hens reading some of the posts, maybe its because I only had one original hen in the run.
But it feels good to have some more hens and the aim is to get the numbers up to 10 (i hope) by the summer.
Tony.
