Hi,
Are you running down your flock or are you planning on replenishing it?

Sadly i wont be getting any more now. I love my hens, but with big girls have had so many problems with egg laying etc it has put me off. My banty girls were better, but over the years i have lost so many and it's heartbreaking. Jess who is 7 in May was hatched from eggs i had sent from Al in 2010, she has never had a soft shelled egg in all those years, it just goes to show that if you get a hen from a very good breeder ie not cross bred which i think alot are these days, they will be with you for years. The 3 i have left will stay until the end of their lives, they are spilt rotten, but i love them dearly)like(

That's sad but i am sure you will have lots of fond memories too. I got like that with horses. It becomes an emotional rollercoaster. One day I was competing and having great fun, the next my horse was lame or at the Vet School. Three horses and 21 years later I gave up. I look back and smile but if I think too hard I feel a bit sick about the emotional turmoil it sometimes became.
Enjoy your girlies for now.

Can definitely relate to the heartbreak side of it Stace. Live in the moment and enjoy your girls.
