Two sunny (half) days so far this year! I've cleaned up the squash frame, cleared the cold frame, disinfected the polytunnel, and dug up the few remaining parsnips and Japanese leeks. The leeks went into a carrot a nut roast for tonight's dinner.
Still one or two tiny celariac and some big leeks left.
Over winter onions and garlic are doing well, but the woodies have had a few spring cabbage seedlings. Then they have the cheek to eat the peanuts off the bird table!
Lucky for them I don't like pigeon; but I know a man who does!

Re: Mallard's 2012 Diary
I've decided to plant all my tomatoes outside this season, the ones I planted out last year grew pretty well and disease free!
I want to grow physalis (cape gooseberry) in the tunnel where the toms would have gone. I really fancy making jam with them!
I had to chop my favourite rose bush right back today as it's grown through the fence wire next to a walkway and become a elf'n'safety issue!

I am going to start my toms off either in a cold frame or outside this year
.We had plenty last year but had them in the wrong place and they got "burnt"by the wind.

Not a lot to do today, the snow in the rain gauge melted to 1mm of water and the lowest temperature was -8ºC, brrrrrrrrrrrr!

Nice sunny afternoon on the plot, a few jobs done and gro-bags emptied into my planters with a bit of good manure underneath! Two for different carrot varieties and one for pak choi!

Two really nice days!
I've dug trenches ready for potatoes, taken out a lot of weeds, filled pots in the tunnel all ready for seeds a bit later on and tomorrow I'm going to plant some leek seeds in a tray in the polytunnel!

Runner beans, French climbers, tomatoes, physalis. pickling onions, red cabbage, cabbage and cauli seeds all sown in the polytunnel!
Crystal lemon cucumber seeds in the cold frame.
Carrots in the brown planter and pak choi in the green!
Three rows of parsnips, Jules looking after two rows of beetroot and my over winter red onions and garlic needing weeding!
