My tomatoes are from fruit I've taken the seeds out of and eaten the rest! Mainly because the variety is very tasty and the seeds not available. They did well last year!)t'

My first harvest of the new season today; rhubarb! I inherited from the last tenant and it's a very early variety.
I cooked it with crystallized ginger and sugar and had some with my dinner with ice cream and some for the freezer!)eat(

Sharp frost in the poly tunnel, lost all but two of these runner beans!{mr.angry} It took a few French climbers as well. I have reserve planting which hasn't come through yet, so it's all fleeced down tonight!:oops:

That's such a shame Mallard{hug}
.. I had fleece over my cherry and plum trees last night as they are in full bloom, I'm hoping they'll be ok .. also lit the greenhouse heater to protect my bedding plants .. haven't put the tomatoes out in the greenhouse yet as even with the heater it was only +5 .. going to keep them in the house a bit longer as that's too low ..it went down to -6 here last night}hairout{

Sorry that your beans got mashed by the frost Mallard, but on the plus side you still have more then enough time to sow some more, I dont usually sow my legumes till end of April so that hopefully we miss the late frosts. Also wrapped a few plum tree,s with fleece, that are full of blossom i think that they got away with any frosts that may have appeared.

Still having minus fives here and it's hammering my polytunnel; I've had to replant runner beans, French climbers, cucumbers, pumpkins, courgettes, shark's fin, spaghetti marrow and I think I'll have to take up the offer of my mates tomato plants (I gave him the seeds){mr.angry}
I uncovered my pak choi's flea beetle protection today, only to be told by my Chinese neighbour, "That not pak choi, it some kind of lettuce!":shock: I do have pak choi surviving in the tunnel though!
We've cleaned out a rat infested shed for a new oriental tenant, who said she would clean her hands with anti-septic jerry!sile}

Hey Mallard I have met Auntie Septic Jenny she is a lovely woman maybe related Jerry? You have got true British grit and determination coursing through your body - if I had found so much gone in my greenhouse (dont have polytunnel) I would have stamped my foot and had a{cry} and thrown in the towel. Onwards and upwards eh ?x

We've been a bit worried that they might stop us getting our water from the river, our only source of water:?
This month so far we've had 88mm of rain on the plots and this is the river right outside my plot tonight! Drought?:shock:

Could you not dig a secret hole below river level and get any water that "collects" out of that)grin2(

Because of a deal our landowner struck with the local council (all to do with some of our land being a riverside walk) we have a council maintained filter and pump, connected to their power and two holding tanks!)c(
Bob, can sit on my plot and see that any time! Great innit!
