Well, after last years hard work with so little to show for it, I am going to try not to get carried away this year. Although the celery grew well, it was ready when I was on holiday, as were the toms and so much else. I came back to a complete shambles. My red cabbages for Xmas (which I put in new raised beds and spent a fortune on compost) were just decimated by caterpillars and slugs, as were my sprouts, although astonishingly, there were enough for Xmas dinner with some left over.
My onions/garlic grew badly for some reason - the first real disappointing year. I was hoping for several strings of them, but the tops weren't there to do that with when I harvested them.
The red onions barely grew at all again, so they are a definite no-no this year.
This year I would like the effort I put in to be properly rewarded - I am sure I wouldn't have spent as much on veg had I bought it as I did on seeds, canes, feed, slug and bug stuff etc etc!
I will give it some thought and come up with a plan in the next few days of what I am going to grow, and try to stick to it.
Yeah, right.

Our's were the same Helen but Ali use some of her old tights. One onion in two knots, about an inch apart, then another onion until a leg is full and hang up. To use just cut between the knots on the lowest one and the others don't fall out

We grew red onions, they grew alright but not drastically big. Still taste OK though.

PS They don't look as aesthetically pleasing hanging from the kitchen ceiling as a string of onions which is why they are hanging in my shed.

Ha ha ha! They would have to hang in my kitchen, so perhaps black ones would be better!
I know I am going to regret asking this but what is the 27 after your name for? Is it your inside leg measurement?

27 is how many onions he has
