Didnt get too much gardening done yesterday as i went to poultry auction across the river to have a look at if they had any light suffolks which they only had two lots each with a cockeral which I didnt want and knew no one who would take him. So I ended up succesfully bidding on 3 Point-of-Lay hybrids and 4 others which I think could be cross Plymouth Rocks but not too sure.
All day yesterday the fun and games as to who will be top dog started and the poor old hybrids being a little younger spent the day on top of the coop or hid away under the coop:-D . I,m just about to pop down to the allotment to see how they all got on., on their 1st night in their new home.
Will put some pics up later.....
PS ...if any of the mods feel its not appropriate to mix chicken theme with the gardening dairys please feel free to move to the most suitable section.)t'

I,m slowly psyching myself up for the full cockeral dispatching thingy Angela, today I cut the head off my hard boiled egg and didnt flinch, I was quite mercyless in fact{rofwl} (has anyone any thoughts on the merits of Quorn Burgers:oops: )

Thanks for taking the time Angela. Haha 4 of them have been given names, the one in the 1st photo has been given the name Chilli Pepper by the grandkids as they say she is the best looking (hottest) out of the flock, and one of the hybrids is a little smaller then her two mates so she they called her baby Scarlett after their young cousin who is 6 month old. The other two hybrids are to be called Nora and Flora which their Nanna sugested and the two of em fell over laughing.:-D
To be honest Angala Scarlett is my fav, she gets bullied from each of the bigger white chickens but she is very determined and tries to stand her ground plus she is the only one of the hybrids laying at the moment...)t'

Thanks Linda, they seem to have settled down lovely, still a bit of pecking going on but nothing too drastic. No need to be sorry about using 40 words instead of 5, I have been accused on more then one occasion of being able to "chew the fat" as they say down these parts.:-D And happy hen keeping back to you Linda, and your right about Mrs HB and the GKids loveing them, my two grandsons have rung up the last few nights to ask how they are getting on and how many egss did they lay..
