Don't believe all you see Richard ,this last couple of weeks things have grown out of proportion ,potato tops all over the path where they have fallen over ,cabbage and caulie busting out of there netting looks a little like jurasic park.

Todays harvest for dinner ,spuds are Golden Wonder one root ,dug a root 3 weeks ago and tubers have doubled in size ,really worth a go ,sadly no flavours only plain

Well everything seems to have exploded this last few weeksTomatoes have taken over the greenhouse, seem to have plenty on them so chutney ahoy

Dwarf french beans should get a picking off them for this weekend.

Looks like they want the polly tunnel to themselves.

The sweetcorn that looked so sick a few weeks ago is really coming on nicely now ,good thick stems and just starting to flower.

I give up with the spuds easier to contain chickens than them ,they are every where stems taller than me ,only dug the golden wonder at the moment ,nice lot off them .

Outdoor cucumbers starting to show now ,giving plenty of feed and water .

The two tomato plants i found growing in the garden a few weeks ago are looking healthy ,not side shooting just feeding and watering and left to grow as they like.

All in all after a slow start things going not to bad ,with rain forecast this weekend hopefully things will get a good soaking

Just catching up on what you're up to Bill. Everything is looking good as usual and you're even eating stuff. My Melonie cucy is doing reasonably well, he who does is watering, still not allowed to lift ! How's your poultry girls doing ?

Certainly some scorching temp at the moment keep getting an odd downpour with a thunderstorm so water butts well full ,just got to keep an eye on things in tubs as can soon dry out.
Tomato harvest well under way and think Wendy getting her ingredients for chutney tomorrow
Took quite a few of the leaves off to allow sun and heat in to help ripen them.
Got a really good crop of runner beans this year ,froze quite a few already and still pretty full
Dwarf french beans in polly tunnel done ok ,picked several but will pull plants next week easier to pick then as flowers finished now
Onions drying in polly tunnel ,not such a good crop this year went over far to early.
Sweat corn tassels turning brown, getting excited won't be long now.
Looks like another bumper crop of blackberries again this year the hedgerows are full as well ,may be a sign of things to come
A couple of Tomato plants growing wild in the garden ,probably from the compost ,put in pots fed watered and left to there own devices in a sunny sheltered spot ,turned out the healthiest of the lot
Goes to show outside really much better ,if the weather is warm that is.
Cucumbers a little late as lost the first lot but should have some in a couple or 3 days .
Courgettes have been rampant this year but nearly over now ,only so much you can do with them, Wendy has found a recipe that requires 2 large ones so will see how it turns out.

Leeks should be ok again this year ,looking not to bad at the moment.
Potatoes the ones we have dug have been good ,even if the tops are over 5 ft tall.
And a quickie from the girls ,queuing up at the soup kitchen ,they could eat for England if i let them ,every time you pull a weed up they think its for them ,bless.

As for surplus courgettes, the girls will love them - leave some to get bigger and they'll enjoy the seeds too

Do you hang them up ,or cut them up ,certainly a surplus this year.

A bit of both - some chopped so that they all have access as one of my girls is bottom hen and she dithers so much that the others have usually scoffed the lot by then, and the rest hung up for them to peck at. Marrow sized ones on the other hand are too heavy, but I still cut in half so they can get into the flesh and peck away at the seeds etc

Well hear they are LL enjoying a large courgette ,should keep them amused for a while.

Lasted nearly all day ,well about 3 hours ,other half in fridge can have that in a day or two .

Pulled the last of the dwarf french beans that were in the polly tunnel ,had 2 good pickings from them so was surprised how many still on ,have been a good crop this year.

Just pulled my first cob of corn ,had it for tea its was luvverlyy Hoping for some more in a day or two if it stays sunny and warm.

The girls thought they were in chooky heaven ,after buying a Lidls watermelon today and finding it soft inside thought i would give the girls a treat ,now question is did they like it .
