Well here I go once again, I truly hope this year is more productive.
The beds in the poly tunnel have been raised, manure added along with more soil.
Manure added to the outdoor veg patch.
Now I need to start making plans.

Well done, you have made a start, sadly our little plot is full of water, not alot going on here, think I am going to stick with some container growing this year, hopefully make it productive and pretty
Re: Davina's 2014 gardening diary
Hi, not been on this before, was out yesterday digging my veg patch, trying to get the weeds out, actually was a bit easier as the soil was so mud like, unfortunatly, I kept getting stuck, ha, I nearly fell over at one point trying to pull my foot out of the dirt, my wellie had sunk down,ha, didnt fall though, trying to get ready for growing veg again, my carrots were good last year, and green beans, but everything else, cauliflower didnt turn out, still got the cauliflower plant there, just no cauliflower in sight ha, great, good luck with yours x

Re: Davina's 2014 gardening diary
Well I had big plans for gardening yesterday, however the weather was terrible. Hubby did point out that it doesn't rain in the poly tunnel
but it was just to wet and miserable to venture out. And we had a 3 and a half hour power cut, so couldn't even have a cup of tea. Maybe next Sunday will be better

Re: Davina's 2014 gardening diary
Had a few hours out in the garden today, got a few jobs done.
Raised beds in poly tunnel filled.
End panels taken off the veg patches.
Planted some lettuce seeds, leeks and radish in little propagators, under a bigger propagator, inside the poly tunnel, hopefully it will be warm enough to germinate
Need to order some algon to clean the outside of the poly tunnel

Re: Davina's 2014 gardening diary
Yesterday hubby rotivated the manure into the veg patch and rotivated the "chicken run"
don't worry, no chickens in it. They never use it as they free range, so this year it is going to have brassicas planted into it.

The potatoes are chitting
Not much more achieved today as it was wet and a little too windy.

Re: Davina's 2014 gardening diary
Yesterday was a beautiful day. It reached 83.6 degrees in the poly tunnel
the radish are through and so are some of the lettuce, but no sign of the leeks as yet. The potatoes are starting to produce some shoots, so I will probably be planting the first earliest next weekend.
We had a tidy around our garden as it was starting to look very untidy. The duck house is painted, the ducks just don't recognize it as home

Planted first early spuds Pentland Javlin and Rocket, in tubs and bags, they will be kept in the poly tunnel until it's warmer outdoors.
Planted lettuce, cabbage, cauliflower and broccoli plants in poly tunnel.
Transplanted chilly pepper and tomato plants into bigger pots.
Sown broad beans (a bit behind with those I think)
More sowing to do tomorrow

Had a good day, cleaned inside and outside of greenhouse and poly tunnel with jeyes fluid.
Planted, carrots and spring onions in the poly tunnel.
Sowed gardeners delight tomatoes, peppers, lettuce, courgettes which will be potted on and put outdoors when it's warm enough.

It was very cold here Sunday night, the frost was very thick. So yesterday hubby hot some parafin and for the first time since we got the greenhouse 4 years ago we gas a heater in there. It feels much better in there this morning. It is switched off now.
