Thrifty uses for Household Products Aluminium Foil
Using products you have around the home for other jobs
Foil
1. Cleaning Ovens
Place foil on Oven floor when cooking Roasts and other spitty Meals. It'll save you hours of scrubbing!
2. Light Reflecting
Add more light into a Shed or small room by sticking some foil on the ceiling above the light. Do the same with Candles.
3. Garden Bird Scarer
Distract birds from your Vegetable patch or flower garden by hanging bits of foil. The wind should spin them around and put the birds off.
4. Soften clogged up Sugar
To re-soften hard Sugar, wrap it in Foil and bake in the Oven for a while. This will loosen it up and restore it to it's original texture.
5. Heat Retaining
Old uses Foil can help in a Solid Fuel Rayburn. Roll the foil up and throw it in with the wood and / or coal. It will retain heat in the same manner a Storage Heater does.
6. Heat Reflecting
Reflect more heat from a Radiator by sticking foil onto some hardboard and placing it behind the Radiator, shiny side towards the Heater of course.
7.Reduce Electromagnetism
If your Bed is directly above Electrical Products in a room below, it is said that lining the underside of your bed with Aluminium Foil will reduce any electro-magnetism causing you loss of sleep.
8. Decorations
Silver foil makes good Christmas Decorations. Your kids will enjoy cutting star shapes out of Cardboard and wrapping foil around them. Use it for wrapping the odd present as well !
9. Sharpening Scissors
To sharpen Scissors, fold some used foil into a fairly thick pad then cut 'against the pad'. After about half a dozed cuts, they will be sharpened!
10. Cleaning an Iron of starch stains
To clean your Iron,. simply lay some Foil down and iron over. This will clean off any Starch causing your Iron to stick.
