Frugal, thrifty and alternative uses for
Beer

There are many who will say they never have any left over - if so, that's good, it either means you don't drink it, or you do and there's some left over.

What I would saythough is to remind you that Beers have 'use by' dates on them, so before you think to yourself, "I'll finish those two bottles off which have been in the Cupboard for the last two years" - beware!! 1. Here are some uses......

1. Softening Meats

In cooking Meats, beer is a great softener and adds flavour to dishes. For just softening meat, soak for half an hour or so before placing it in the Oven. For marinating, soak overnight.

2. Stain Remover

As a stain remover, Beer works well with spilt coffee and tea on Rugs and Carpets. Rub some lightly and the stains will vanish. Heavier stains may require a few goes though.

3. Wooden Furniture Restore r

For revitalizing wooden furniture, flat Beer dampened onto a soft cloth and gently rubbed into wood will give it a bit of polish and help to revive colour loss.

4. Shine up your Jewelry

Polishing up old Jewelry. Pour some Beer into a small dish and soak your jewelry in it. After a while, take them out and polish.

5. Garden Slug Deterrent

For Slugs and Snails (not puppy dogs tails!!!), pour some Beer into a bowl and bed it down into the soil. They will be attracted to it, go in, then drift into an endless sleep. I respect that some may find this wrong.

6. General Garden Fertilizer .

Beer containd Yeast which is a known booster for your soil. Just add a couple of spoonfuls to your Watering Can and apply where necessary.

7. Hair Tonic .

If you're shampooing your hair, beforehand mix four teaspoons of beer in a glass of warm water. When you have applied the Shampoo, mix the mixture in and rub well (many Shampoo and other hair products already contain beer).

8. Rat and Mice 'Inviter'.

Rodents are also supposed to be attracted to Beer, so if you want them to go a place where you have set up any traps of any description, put a small bowl down there!

A good Greenhouse should never be without some !!
